URGENT NOTICE: RESUMPTION OF VISA PROCESSING

FOLLOWING THE ANNOUNCEMENT ON SUNDAY 29’th AGUST, 2020 BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA CONCERNING THE RE-OPENING OF THE KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN ACCRA, GHANA, WITH EFFECT FROM TUESDAY, 1’st SEPTEMBER, 2020 THE EMBASSY OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA IN ANKARA-TURKEY AND IT’S CONSULATE IN ISTANBUL WISHES TO INFORM THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT IT HAS RECOMMENCED THE ISSUANCE OF VISAS TO GHANA, WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT.

RECTIFYING THE INCORRECT STATEMENTS MADE BY JULIUS KUGOR ON YOUTUBE CHANNEL “ROYAL AFRICTV”

The attention of the Ghana Embassy in Ankara-Turkey was on Tuesday, 21st July, 2020 drawn to a video posted on a YouTube channel “Royal Africtv”, titled “Exclusive interview with the president of African Union Community in Turkey”.

1. In the said video, a Ghanaian National, Mr. Julius Kugor speaking as the supposed president of the “African Union Community” in Turkey made some incorrect statements with regards to the processing of passports for Ghanaian residents in Turkey.

2. According to Mr. Kugor, a new law passed last year, require Ghanaians in Turkey who wish to renew their passports (bio-metric or machine­readable) to travel to Ghana to be able to do so, and therefore suggested that the passport processes are cumbersome and stressful.

3. The Ghana Embassy in Turkey would, therefore, like to correct these erroneous claims by Mr. Kugor and also wishes to state categorically as follows:

  • There is NO law that requires Ghanaians in Turkey and its countries of concurrent accreditation to return to Ghana to renew their passports;
  •  All passport applications received by the Ghana Embassy in Ankara or the Ghana Consulate in Istanbul are duly forwarded to Ghana for processing and returned for onward delivery to applicants, between 4 -6 weeks, and NOT THREE (3) MONTHS;
  • Also, with effect from 1st July, 2020., Ghanaians in Turkey and its countries of concurrent accreditation, now have the option of applying for a 38 or 48-page passport booklets for a period of 10 years at reduced fees of €120 and €180 respectively, while, that for minors (under 18 years) still remain at €115. The earlier fee for a 38-page passport booklet was €200.
  • Application forms can be downloaded from the Embassy’s website www.ghanaembassy.com.tr. Completed application forms can be submitted either to the Ghana Consulate in Istanbul or Ghana Embassy in Ankara;
  • Applications must be accompanied with proof of payment, proof of one’s nationality (and this must either be a copy of BIRTH­CERTIFICATE or a copy of BIO-PAGE of old passport);
  • All applications must be submitted with four (4) standard passport size photographs taken full face on a plain background within six (6) months of the date of application without dark glasses or hat. One of the photographs should be certified as true likeness of the applicant by a witness;

Urgent Notice 4 – Re: Evacuation of Stranded Ghanaians

The Ghana Embassy in Ankara – Turkey Hereby Informs As Follows:

A) Turkish Flight TK4900 will depart for Accra on Wednesday 15th July, 2020 from the new Istanbul International Airport at 8.05 AM From Gate-1 of the International Flight Departure Terminal;

B) All must arrive at the airport (4) hours before departure;

C) Ticket price is $878 and should be made available for payment during ckeck-in formalities;

D) Persons with existing return Turkish Airlines tickets are adviced to bring them along;

E) All evacuees will be required to provide their own PPES (Personal Protective Equipment, E.G. face masks, sanitizers);

F) Proof of payment of airfare must be submitted by e-mail to (consular@ghanaembassy.com.tr) before departure.

Urgent Notice Evacuation of Stranded Ghanaians

Further to the Ghana’s Embassy Turkey’s message dated 25th June, 2020 on the above subject matter, it is hereby informed as follows:

  • Turkish flight TK 4920 will depart for Accra on Thursday 2nd July, 2020 from İstanbul International Airport Terminal 2 at 8:00 AM. Interested persons who have not submitted their details to the Embassy should do so and contact the airline directly after NOON, Wednesday, 1st 2020 for ticket reservation.
  • There will be a pre-boarding screening for all evacuees before departure, and evacuess will be required to provide their own PPE’s (Personel Protective Equipment, e.g. face masks, sanitizers). Attached is detailed guidelines issued by the Turkish authorities for our information;
  • There will be a 14-day mandatory quarantine upon arrival in Accra (with the possibility of extension to 21 days). The cost of the quarantine will be borne by the evacuess and should be made directly to either of the following hotels:

In addition to this, it was decided not to ask for a “Travel Permit Document” to the foreign tourists over 65 years old who make intercity trips in our country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey presents its compliments to Diplomatic Missions and International Organizations in Turkey, and has the honour to present herewith the measures determined by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey for travel to Turkey from abroad by air, land and railway.

Measures for air travel:

  • Civil airline companies will continue to implement protection and control measures for flights which were introduced previously against the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • The “C ircular on Airport Pandemic Measures and Certification” issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation shall
  • Passengers and other persons who come to airports will get services in line with measures determined for COVID-19.
  • During the flight, passengers will be asked to complete the passenger information form (personal information, seat number, the address they will be staying at in Turkey, contact information, symptom information) and will be given an information note on COVID-19.
  • These forms will be saved for a month and will be handed to the relevant Provincial Health Directorate if they require
  • When the aircraft lands at the airport, it will be required to submit a GENDEC on whether anyone on the aircraft is showing
  • If the aircraft is carrying a passenger who is suspected of having COVID-19, on-board procedures shall be implemented .
  • After the passengers leave the aircraft and are transported to the terminal in compliance with social distancing measures, their temperatures will be measured and those who are found to have a fever will be questioned over possible
  • If a passenger who is suspected of having COVID-19 is identified at the airport, he/she will be quarantined/isolated. The contact person of the Health Directorate and the 112 emergency services will be notified of the status of the passenger and the sick passenger will be transported to hospital for an

If there are any passengers who are reporting a symptom, they will be quarantined/ The 112 emergency services will be notified of the status of the passenger and the sick passenger will be transported to hospital for an examination.
  • The passenger information form will contain the passenger’ s personal information, seat number, the address he/she will be staying at in Turkey , contact information and symptom information. For railway passengers, the form must also contain the carriage
  • These forms will be saved for a month by the land border teams of the Provincial Health Directorate with record of the travel company’ s bus/train number, the country it has come from and the license plate of the
  • If authorities find no problems with respect to COVID-19, passengers will be distributed an information note on COVID-I9 and be allowed to leave.

  • Persons identified as having come into contact with a COVID-19 case will be quarantined/isolated for 14 days and will be processed in accordance with the quarantine/ isolation procedures in They will be warned against straying from the route the vehicle will take.

Measures for sea travel:

  • For sea voyages, passengers will be asked at ports to complete the passenger information form (personal information, the address they will be staying at in Turkey, contact details, symptom information) and will be given an information note on COVID-19.
  • These forms will be saved for a month and will be handed to the relevant Provincial Health Directorate if they require

  • Persons identified as having come into contact with a COVID-19 case will be quarantined/isolate d for  14 days and  will  be processed  in accordance with the quarantine/isolation procedures in force.

– If authorities find no problems with respect to COVID-19, people will be  able to leave the port in line with the rules in place.

Announcement for Bulgarians and Ghanaian Resident in Bulgaria

The Embassy of the Republic of Ghana wishes to inform all Bulgarians and Ghanaian resident in Bulgaria that with effect from MONDAY 15TH APRIL, 2019, all visa applications and other Consular Services shall be processed in ONLY at the Embassy of Ghana in Ankara and the Consulate -General of Ghana in Istanbul.

Applicants who wishes to seek any of these services are kindly requested to take the new arrangement until further notice.
